In search of work, an entire generation of Bihar left for places like Mumbai. In some of the villages, people from 70 per cent of the houses depend on the metropolitan for survival. Sitamarhi in Bihar is one such district. But now, people living here are among the worst affected. "What will they gain by attacking us? The state governments should sort this out," said Shiv Lal, a daily wager who has come back to Sitamarhi.
