At least 5,000 people cheered as Chandrayaan 2 lifted off for the Moon from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh this afternoon to explore the lunar south pole by deploying a rover which could lead to pathbreaking discoveries. Many of them were schoolchildren who say they were inspired to pursue space science. Though the original launch was called off last week due to a snag, many flew back from across the country to witness what could be a historic mission. NDTV caught up with some of them.
