Kudankulam in Tamil Nadu is tense, but calm as the anti-nuclear protests intensified today. The leader of the protests, S P Udayakumar, had earlier said he would court arrest tonight but in some last minute drama was whisked away by locals in a boat. The area has turned into a battlefield between protesters and police. Now senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan has approached the Supreme Court appealing against the Madras High Court order that gave the go ahead for the plant.
