For eight years, residents of Pura Amar Singh village in Uttar Pradesh's Agra district and neighbouring hamlets have considered 15-year-old Neeru Singh a "goddess". When she was six, her fast had "led to rain in the parched village", they say. After the incident, her fame spread and a temple was also built in the village at her instructions, the villagers say.
