NDTV's Ravish Kumar, who won the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award 2019, voiced concern on the condition of Hindi newspapers in the country. "Those who teach Hindu and Muslims to stay together are rare to find in mainstream media today," he said in a speech on "The Power of Citizen's journalism to Advance Democracy", in the Philippines. Ravish Kumar also referred to Mahatma Gandhi comments advocating the need for citizen journalists during his speech.
