Even as voting in West Bengal was marred by violence in Darjeeling's Chopra, a 30-year-old man named Uttam in Raiganj Lok Sabha constituency drove up to a polling booth in a "bridegroom's car", dressed in a bridegroom finery, to cast his vote. He told NDTV that he got married only last evening and even though the rituals were not over yet, he drove his wife first up to her constituency and then arrived in Raiganj to exercise his franchise. "This is something we have to do," Uttam said.
