Rakesh Asthana, the controversial former official of the Central Bureau of Investigation, has been appointed the Commissioner of the Delhi Police, with a year's extension just three days before he was all set to retire on July 31. According to an order of the Union Home Ministry, Mr Asthana, currently serving as Director General of the Border Security Force, will join the Delhi Police with immediate effect.
