The Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) has some grim numbers. According to CMIE, there has been a surge in unemployment in the last few days, particularly in rural areas. CMIE data shows that urban unemployment in industrial areas has increased from 12% to 15% in just one week. But in the same period, rural unemployment has doubled from 7% to 14%.
