Child marriages persist in rural Rajasthan

Akha Teej is a day considered to be extremely auspicious for marriages in the Hindu calendar but in Rajasthan, it has also become synonymous with child marriages. Although, marriages of girls below 18 years and boys below 21 years is banned, the practice continues in rural Rajasthan.
