Frightening statistics from the Union Home Ministry: Chennai recorded the most accidents among metropolitian cities in the country last year. A staggering 8,680. 1110 were fatal. Many of these were due to drunken driving. The Chennai Police registered 5000 cases of drunken driving for the first half of last year. That number went up to 6500 during the same period this year.
