A cross-party delegation led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi this morning to discuss holding a caste-based Census and called on him to take the appropriate decision. Members of the delegation included the RJD chief and Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav and the BJP's Janak Ram. Also, the Congress leader Ajit Sharma and former Chief Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha president Jitan Ram Manjhi. All parties in Bihar have called for a caste census but for the BJP, it will be a politically tricky subject with the state agenda at odds with the national perspective on this.
