'BharOS': Made-In-India Operating System For Mobile Phones

A start-up incubated at IIT Madras with funding from the union government has developed BharOS, an operating system for mobile phones, touted to have stringent security and privacy features. The project aims to reduce the dependence on foreign OS in smartphones and promote the use of locally developed technology.
