7 million people die prematurely each year because of air pollution, according to the World Health Organisation. In 2016 there were 1.1 million such early deaths in India. The C40 Air Quality Network is a global initiative launched to tackle urban air pollution around the world by pooling experiences and expertise from cities across continents. And the first of official meeting was held in Bengaluru - a city that already has polluted air and one that needs to take action now to avoid going the Delhi way.
