In August 2012, Bangalore saw a mass exodus of people from the Northeast. Those images and stories of people fleeing in thousands on trains, with their hurriedly put together belongings, was the starting point for the idea of UR/Unreserved. The Bengaluru-based Media and art collective Maraa's Unreserved project will now find an outlet to express on the same trains. 8 performer-facilitators, from different parts of the country, will gather in Kerala this week for a two-week intensive residency on various aspects of the work. The journey will take off from October 4 to November 6 in the unreserved compartments of the Indian rail network.
