Special trains have been taking tourists in thousands from Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kurseong back to Kolkata. Tour operators and hotels have been badly hit by the indefinite bandh call in Darjeeling as this is the peak tourist season. With the indefinite bandh called by the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) in the Darjeeling hills, over 10,000 tourists, including foreigners who left the hill station, were stranded in Siliguri in the plains.
