PM Narendra Modi, on his first visit to China, is working on his promise of moving the bilateratal relationship from inches to miles, as he called it. On his first day, the PM visited Xi'an, the hometown of Chinese President Xi Jinping, and over a 90-minute conversation, raised a series of issues that have proven to be thorny for India, such as the stapled visas for Arunachal Pradesh residents to Chinese investment in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. He has also taken a giant business delegation along for trade talks on the sidelines. The trade imbalance between India and China is about $45 billion, tilted heavily in china's favour. Mr Modi's China visit made for great optics today. But how substantive will visit be?
