For the past two weeks Ghulam Hassan with his team of co-workers have been getting up at the crack of dawn to break the ice covering this wetland. They know their early morning assignment is an important one. Unless the ice is broken the over eight lakh migratory birds that have arrived at these wetlands will not be able to feed.
