Eighteen people have died in Assam as flood situation in the state has worsened. More than half the state, 2000 villages in 16 out of 27 districts, are reeling under flood water and more than 17 lakh people have been displaced. The swollen Brahmaputra river continues to rise, flooding more areas of the state.
