Author Shobhaa De explains why she thinks Bollywood stars don't come out in the open with political views very often. "In the US you are identified either as a Democrat or a Republican, its transparent, it is there. You know which star support which party. Here, it depends on what is in their interests at that moment. (In India) they use politics to keep themselves out of serious criminal charges. That's when they suddenly develop a political awareness and start lending their names to all sorts of things," she said.
