Wagh Bakri eyes plantations in Assam

Tata Tea and Hindustan Unilever may no longer want to own large tea plantations but little known Wagh Bakri, a popular tea brand in select pockets, now wants to redefine the rules and foray into tea plantations through acquisitions in India and overseas. Wagh Bakri is eyeing planations in Assam and Darjeeling, which it says will help offset volatile tea pricing. The company is also looking at buying out plantations in South Africa.
