May inflation up at 7.55%; sparks calls for rate-cut

India's headline inflation rose marginally to 7.55 per cent in month of May, government data showed. The wholesale price index (WPI), India's main inflation gauge, was expected to rise 7.60 per cent versus a year ago, compared with April's 7.23 per cent, the poll of 31 analysts showed. It is likely to influence RBI's monetary policy announcement next week.
