Car sales are booming with the passenger car market growing at over 21 per cent and commercial vehicles over 34 per cent. However, the robust sales numbers are not reflected as excise tax collections with the government, according to taxmen, excise revenues from boom sectors like motor cars, pharma products, machinery, plastics, organic chemicals and non-ferrous metals have either shrunk or grown less than a per cent.
