Chocolate prices in the Indian market are set to see a rise in the near future due to hike in cocoa prices on the global scenario. London cocoa futures have surged over 40 per cent since the end of 2007. At the start of 2007, the price of cocoa was $1,700 per metric tonne and by end of May 2008, it was at $2,737 a tonne. Cocoa contributes about 15%-30% to the cost of making chocolate and premium chocolates may even contain up to 99% cocoa.
