Ever noticed Indian passports aren't all the same? India issues four passport colours, and each one reflects the traveller's role. Here's what each colour means!
The Navy Blue passport is the most common. It is issued to ordinary citizens for personal travel, work or tourism abroad. This is the passport most Indians carry.
The White passport is issued to Indian government officers and diplomats-on-duty. It helps foreign authorities identify them during official travel.
The Maroon passport is exclusive to high-ranking diplomats, ambassadors and top Indian representatives abroad. It comes with special privileges.
The Orange passport was proposed for travellers with ECR (Emigration Check Required) status, mainly for workers in select countries.
