Indian Railways is a convenient mode of travel. During festival seasons, many people book Tatkal tickets, but you need to follow these steps to successfully book one.

IRCTC has changed its Tatkal ticket booking rules, effective July 1, 2025. Only those with their Aadhaar card linked to their IRCTC account can book Tatkal tickets, as OTP verification via Aadhaar is mandatory.

To book a Tatkal train ticket, first open the IRCTC website (irctc.co.in) or mobile app and log in to your account.

After logging in, select your boarding and destination stations and the travel date. Then, select 'Tatkal' from the quota dropdown menu.

A list of available trains will appear. Choose your preferred train with available Tatkal seats. You can opt for either AC or non-AC.

Click 'Book Now' and enter passenger details, including name, age, and gender. To save time, add details to your 'Master List' beforehand.

An OTP will be sent to your mobile. Enter the OTP, then complete the payment using UPI, net banking, or wallet. Your Tatkal ticket will be booked.
