Bhaskar Bhat has taken over as the new chairman of Tata-SIA joint venture Vistara, the airline said on Thursday.

Tata-SIA joint venture Vistara on Saturday rolled out a slew of special offers to its customers including free return tickets to the winners of a contest and discount on shopping and dining, among others, as it seeks to fill more number of seats in its aircraft during the festival period.

Tata-SIA joint venture airline Vistara and budget carrier AirAsia India are unlikely to get approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for CAT-IIIB operations in low visibility during foggy season this year, according to sources.

Tata-SIA Airline -- a joint venture between Tatas and Singapore Airlines -- is operating Vistara, which started its flights in January this year.

Vistara is scaling up and will operate 164 frequencies per week by March 1, the airline said in a release.

The move comes in the face of increasing competition in the full-service segment, particularly after the national carrier Air India joined the 27-member global airlines club Star Alliance and Tata-SIA joint venture Vistara launched its service recently.
