As per the figures, the Nikkei India Manufacturing PMI was at its lowest mark in July since February 2009 and highlighted the first deterioration in business conditions in 2017 so far.

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan fell 0.5 per cent, turning negative after the China services purchasing managers' index(PMI) compiled by HSBC/Markit fell to 50.0 in July from a 15-month high of 53.1 in June.

Weakness in new orders was also seen in China's official services report at the weekend, which showed activity slipped to a six-month low. Both surveys contrast with other data in recent weeks which showed the economy was regaining momentum thanks to a spate of government stimulus measures.
