Nissan India May Sales

Even before the spread of the coronavirus, Nissan's sales and profits had been slumping and it was burning through cash, forcing it to row back on an aggressive expansion plan pursued by ousted leader Carlos Ghosn. The pandemic has only piled on urgency and pressure to renewed efforts to downsize.

Riding high on the success of its small car Kwid and SUV Duster range of models, French car maker Renault is well on its way to post its first ever double digit sales numbers this year, according to a top company official.

Commenting on the sales performance, Nissan Group of India President Kenichiro Yomura said: "Our sales performance has been encouraging since the start of FY'14 and our aim is to continue to remain progressive on our performance."

France-based auto major Renault reported on Saturday a thirteen-fold increase in its India sales in May at 6,013 units.
