Zydus Cadila Q4 FY21 Results: Cadila Healthcare reported a 73 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 679 crore in the January-March quarter of the financial year 2020-21.

Analysts say the fresh selloff in the pharmaceutical shares has been triggered after Sun Pharma's US-based subsidiary Taro Pharmaceuticals reported a weak set of earnings in the March quarter.

Shares of Cadila Healthcare rose sharply by 9.5 per cent despite the company reporting a 22.59 per cent dip in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended June 30.

During the quarter, the company's business in the US posted sales of Rs 1,072 crore registering a growth of 20 per cent over the same period of previous year.

Cadila Healthcare shares jumped as much as 5.6 per cent on Friday after the Ahmedabad-based pharma manufacturer reported better-than-estimated earnings for the October-December quarter on the back of strong growth in its US business.

Kolkata-based Mr Maheshwari, who made his fortune from stocks like Page Industries, says broader markets are neither going to go up too much nor fall a lot from current levels (7,856) because of the absence of earnings growth.

Earnings season has not been great. It cannot be even called as a 'mixed bag' because there was no growth in revenues.

Its total income has increased from Rs 2,122.61 crore for the quarter ended September 30 in the 2014-15 fiscal to Rs 2,483.19 crore in the second quarter of the current fiscal.

Cadila Healthcare on Wednesday reported a 47.11 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 353.39 crore for the fiscal first quarter that ended on June 30, 2015, mainly on account of robust sales.

Post the stock split liquidity in the stock will increase and it will attract more retail investors to invest in the stock, who were otherwise not investing in the stock on account of its high per share value, analysts said.

Its income for the entire financial year ended March this year rose to Rs 8,651.34 crore. It was Rs 7,224.03 crore for the previous fiscal.

Consolidated total income from operations of the company also rose to Rs 2,189.46 crore for the quarter under consideration as against Rs 1,871.69 crore for the same period year ago, Cadila Healthcare said in a filing to BSE.
