The overall crypto sector rose by 1.01 percent in the last 24 hours. Bitcoin and Ether, along with stablecoins such as Tether, USD Coin, Ripple, and Binance USD opened with small profits on Wednesday, February 1. Only a handful of altcoins recorded losses today. These include Chainlink and Stellar.

The Indian government said it doesn't treat trading in crypto assets as illegal, a day after it announced taxing such transactions just the same as winnings from gambling.

The domestic equity indices on Tuesday continued to trade higher after the Union Budget 2022-23 presentation in a highly volatile trading session.

The broader markets were also trading weak; the BSE Midcap index had 62 points or 0.4 per cent at 15,494 and the smallcap index had lost 41 points or 0.2 per cent at 14,663.The Economic Survey is to be presented by Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) Krishnamurthy Subramanian in the afternoon, a day ahead of the Budget.

In the overnight trade, US stocks had suffered their worst day in over three months amidst worries about the economic impact of containing the deadly coronavirus. The Dow Jones fell 453 points or 1.57 per cent to 28,535, the S&P 500 lost 51 points or 1.5 per cent to 3,243 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 175 points or 1.8 per cent to 9,139.

In past, glitches in the return filing system of GST Network were reported on the last day of filing of returns and trade and industry had to face problems.

The last such instance was in the year 2015, when then finance minister Arun Jaitley presented the Budget on a Saturday. The markets in India are usually shut for trading on Saturdays and Sundays, as is the practice worldwide.
