Counting Begins in Warangal Lok Sabha Bypoll

The counting is being done at the Enumamula market yard. Seven halls have been set up to carry out the exercise from 8 AM.

Warangal, Telangan: Counting of votes in the bye-election held on November 21, which recorded over 68 per cent polling, to Warangal Lok Sabha constituency began in Warangal this morning.

The counting is being done at the Enumamula market yard. Seven halls have been set up to carry out the exercise from 8 AM. The counting of postal ballots has been taken up first.

There are a total of 15,09,671 voters in the constituency.

Though as many as 23 candidates are in the fray, the main contest is considered to be among P Dayakar of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), Congress nominee and former Union Minister Sarvey Satyanarayana and BJP's P Devaiah on behalf of the BJP-TDP combine.

Section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, (CrPC) has been imposed at the venue to as a precautionary measure.

The by-poll is necessitated following the resignation of sitting TRS MP K Srihari after he became Telangana Deputy Chief Minister.
