Surat:
A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Pandesar area of Surat city, police said today.
A complaint has been registered against 21-year-old Sonukumar Shah, Pandesar police sub-inspector AB Mori said.
The victim, whose father is a vegetable vendor, and the niece of the accused were playmates and used to visit his house in Aavirbhav colony of Pandesar area, police said.
Last evening when the victim went to play, the accused, jobless for the last 15 days, confined her in a room and allegedly raped her.
A case was registered against Shah on the basis of the complaint and after receiving medical report from civil hospital further action will be taken, police said.
