Justice Sadashiva Commission submits report to Karnataka government

Bangalore: The Justice AJ Sadashiva Commission, entrusted with the responsibility of finding out the well-being of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) communities, submitted its report to the Karnataka government on Thursday.

Justice (Retd) Sadashiva handed over the report to Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda.

The Commission, set up in 2005, surveyed 20.54 lakh scheduled caste families (96.60 lakh people in all) and 1.58 lakh employees belonging to scheduled castes.

The panel has recommended internal reservation from the existing 15 per cent for SCs, for which different sub-castes have been clubbed into four categories of beneficiaries.

Justice (Retd) Sadashiva urged the state government to take up the panel's recommendations with the Centre to debate the SC internal reservation issue in Parliament if found satisfactory.
