Festive season is around, which car should you buy?

Even as carmakers are struggling with weak sales, they are going all out to woo consumers ahead of the festive season with discount offers and new launches. Here are some of the new launches that happened during the year. Maruti Suzuki introduced a refreshed version of one of its best-selling models WagonR, at a starting at a price of Rs 4,10,000. Stingray, which is powered by a 998 cc petrol engine, is available in three variants.

Hyundai Motor launched its new hatchback Grand i10 on September 4, with prices starting at Rs 4.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Grand i10 is available in two engine variants - 1.1-litre diesel and 1.2-litre petrol. While the petrol variant is priced from Rs 4.29 lakh to Rs 5.47 lakh, the diesel version is priced between Rs 5.23 lakh and Rs 6.41 lakh

With an aggressive starting price of Rs 5,59,000, the EcoSport has proven popular since being launched in India in June, not only rivalling Renault's compact SUV Duster but also entry-level sedans and super compact cars.

Nissan Motor has unveiled its redesigned Terrano compact sport utility vehicle in India, aiming to tap the segment for affordable crossover vehicles. It is likely to be priced around Rs 10 lakh.

Commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland ventured into the multi-purpose vehicles by launching 7-8 seater Stile. The Stile is priced from Rs. 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Mahindra & Mahindra entered the highly competitive hatchback segment with a compact version of its sedan Verito, the Vibe. The diesel models of 1.5 litre Vibe were priced from Rs 5.63 lakh to Rs 6.49 lakh, ex-showroom Mumbai.

German luxury car maker BMW drove in its 1 Series in India, at a starting price of Rs 20.9 lakh. The entry-level luxury hatch will be offered in both petrol and diesel options.

Skoda today launched its all new Octavia at a starting price of Rs. 13.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new Octavia which was first launched in 2001 and marked Skoda's entry in India comes in seven variants, with the top model priced at Rs. 19.45 lakh.

German car-maker Volkswagen launched a new variant of its hatchback Polo in India, priced at Rs 7.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new edition, Cross Polo, will be available with a 1.2 litre diesel engine and a five-speed manual gearbox. The car comes with a slew of features including new cross front and rear bumpers, black side cladding and wheel arches, silver painted mirrors and roof rails.

Targeting the festive season, Fiat has introduced the classic version of its Linea sedan, priced at Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). 'Linea Classic' will be available with two engine options of 1.4 litre (Fire) petrol and 1.3 litre mulijet diesel engine. The diesel version of Linea Classic will have a price starting at Rs 6.95 lakh and Line Classic+ at Rs 7.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Honda entered the diesel vehicle segment in the country with the launch of the compact sedan Amaze. The lowest petrol variant of the Honda Amaze was priced at Rs 4.99 lakh, while the top two variants, both automatics, at Rs 6.62 lakh and Rs 7.5 lakh respectively. The base diesel variant was priced at Rs 5.99 lakh, while the top-end one costs Rs 7.6 lakh.

Toyota in August launched its all-new Camry Hybrid in India, the first ever hybrid car to be locally manufactured, priced at Rs 29.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Nissan India rolled out two new petrol variants of its top-selling hatchback Micra. The Micra Active and New Micra were launched at a starting price of Rs. 3.50 lakh and Rs. 4.79 lakh respectively.

The Mahindra group rolled out its first electric car ‘e2o' priced at Rs 5.96 lakh (on-road Delhi, after state subsidy). The two-door, four-seater car is powered by new generation lithium–ion batteries and a three phase induction electric motor. It has driving range of 100 kilometers per charge, which takes 5 hours for one full charging. The fully automatic car is aimed for city driving.

General Motors launched its multi-purpose vehicle Enjoy at an introductory price between Rs 5.49 lakh and Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The petrol version is powered by a 1.4 litre engine and its prices ranged from Rs 5.49 lakh and Rs 6.99 lakh. The diesel variant has a 1.3 litre engine, priced from Rs 6.69 lakh to Rs 7.99 lakh.

Luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz launched its diesel version of the B-Class car at Rs 22.6 lakh. The petrol version was launched rolled out last year.

Mercedes-Benz launched its all-new A-Class in the compact segment at an introductory price of Rs 21,93,500 for the petrol variant and Rs 22,73,500 for diesel, ex-showroom Mumbai. While the petrol version comes in 1.6 litre, 4 cylinder engine, the diesel model sports a 2.2 litre, 4 cylinder engine.

Volvo introduced its compact crossover vehicle V40 'Cross Country' priced at Rs. 28.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The vehicle is powered by a 2 litre, 5 cylinder diesel engine.

German luxury car maker Audi launched 'Q3 S Edition' sports utility vehicle in India, priced at Rs 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi).

Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) launched its sports car Jaguar F Type, priced from Rs 1.37 crore. The Jaguar F Type will be available in two variants. The F Type V8S is powered by a 5 litre petrol engine while the F TYPE S is equipped with a V6 3-litre petrol engine.
