A picture of India on Diwali, taken from space by 'NASA', has by now become a standing joke. The Photoshopped picture was circulated year after year - but people are wise to it now. So what does India actually look like from space on Diwali - the festival of lights? Thanks to astronaut Paolo Nespoli, we now have an answer. On October 19, the 60-year-old Italian astronaut shared a photo of India, taken from space.
Sharing a photograph of India, as seen from space, he wished everyone a happy Diwali.

Since being shared online just three days ago, the picture has collected almost 6,000 'likes' and over 3,500 'retweets'. Many have thanked Mr Nespoli for sharing the pic:
Mr Nespoli, an astronaut with the
European Space Agency (ESA), has been at the International Space Station for over a month for the Vita Mission.
While the NASA pic did not make an appearance this year on Diwali, another Photoshopped pic definitely did - that of the
Golden Temple in Amritsar, lit up with sky lanterns.
