Unrecognisable After Plastic Surgery, Chinese Women Detained At Airport

Images of the three women went viral on China's Twitter equivalent Weibo

Three Chinese women who travelled overseas to get some work done on their face were unable to go back home as they were barred from taking their flights.

The women flew to South Korea during China's annual Golden Week holiday to go under the knife. But upon return, the women couldn't prove their identity to immigration officers at the airport as they looked nothing like their passport photos.

But with their faces heavily swollen and covered in bandages, can you really blame the security personnel?

Images of the bandaged women sitting at the airport with passports in hand went viral after a Chinese news anchor posted it on China's Twitter-equivalent Weibo.

According to Shanghaiist, the women were detained and questioned by Korean authorities. It's not clear if the women were eventually allowed to travel back to China.Click for more trending news
