Circus suspends popular show after lion attacks trainer

Kiev (Ukraine):
Circus administrators in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv say they are suspending a popular show involving lions after an animal attacked and injured a trainer during a performance, injuring him.

A video of last weekend's incident posted on the Internet shows the lion roaring, then throwing itself at the trainer twice and mauling him in the arms and legs as other assistants attempt to calm the animal down with water hoses and sticks. Meanwhile, screams of shock ring out from the audience and people flee in panic.
The circus statement gave no further details and no one was available for comment.
