Parts of Mumbai witnessed heavy rain early on Saturday, leaving some areas waterlogged. The w
eather department has forecast strong monsoon current in the city on Saturday. The normal date for onset of monsoon in Mumbai is June 10. In view of the alert, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or BMC has taken a number of precautionary measures to ensure that the residents don't face any problem. Residents of the city have been asked to stay indoors. The Mumbai police also warned people to drive safe after a vehicle tripped over in Parel due to slippery roads resulting from the rain.

Two people were killed by heavy rain in Mumbai. A fisherman was struck by lightning and died on the spot. In another incident, a woman who was riding pillion on a two-wheeler died after the vehicle rammed into a truck on GB Road. Official said that heavy rains probably caused the
accident according to PTI reports.
Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL) says, "There are no flight diversions or cancellations. The flights have delayed by 15-20 minutes.
NDRF teams deployed in parts of Mumbai after heavy rain hit the city.
Indian Navy personnel are on standby in parts of Mumbai that see heavy flooding during rain to rush in for relief and rescue if they are called.

"There was a case of wall debris falling on tracks this morning on Down slow line. The debris were removed immediately and for some time, trains on Down slow line were diverted to the fast line," Sunil Udasi, Chief PRO of Central Railways, said.
Central Railways said that trains are running with delay of 10-12 minutes. There is no cancellation at present.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) today declared the onset of the monsoon over Mumbai, the adjoining Thane-Konkan areas, Ahmednagar, Parbhani and other parts of Maharashtra.
The downpour has resulted in severe water-logging in many parts of the city. Some weather experts have predicted the situation might get worse than the 2005 Mumbai rains.
