SEASON 1 : WINNER

The winner of The Next Big Online Business Idea Season 1 was Ahmedabad’s Vikram Patel. His dream project is named eConstructionMart.com and his online idea was to have dedicated construction and building materials marketplace in India. He started with a vision to create efficiency in construction industry through technology-enabled marketplace services.

SEASON 1 : FIRST RUNNERS’ UP

The first runners’ up of The Next Big Online Business Idea Season 1 was Pune’s Navrisham Kaur Grewal. Her idea was to have an online platform which seeks to empower the citizens of India to make that small ‘change’ that they have been thinking about but doing nothing about. Thus, she named her website CHANGEBHAI.in.

SEASON 1 : SECOND RUNNERS’ UP

The second runners’ up of The Next Big Online Business Idea Season 1 was New Delhi’s Prakash Thakur. His idea was to create an online market place for plants which he named as PlantsBazaar.com. It offers customers a space where they can see and buy variety of plants of their choice from the comfort of their homes.

Sanjeev Bikhchandani

Sanjeev is the founder of Naukri.com, India's leading job site. The company also runs jeevansathi.com, 99acres.com, Brijj.com, Naukrigulf.com, Shiksha.com, Quadrangle & Firstnaukri.com.

In addition he has made strategic investments in promising web start-ups such as Policybazaar.com, Meritnation.com, Zomato.com, Mydala.com and 99labels.com.

For the first seven years he drifted and did a number of small businesses – from salary surveys to databases, to feasibility studies, to training. Finally in 1997 the company launched Naukri.com and transformed itself into an Internet company.It was the first Internet company to list on Indian stock exchanges. Today the company employs over 2100 people and has a market capitalization of over Rs. 3000 crs.

Prior to starting Naukri, Sanjeev had worked in Lintas and in consumer marketing at Glaxo SmithKline.

He won the “Ernst and Young – Entrepreneur of the Year” award in 2008 for Business Transformation. He also won the Dataquest Pathbreaker Award & the Teacher's Achievement Award for Business in the same year.

Sanjeev is the immediate past President of TiE Delhi-NCR and was a member of the Global Board of Trustees of TiE. Sanjeev is a member of the Board of Chintan - a not for profit organization that works with waste pickers in Delhi.
He studied Economics at St. Stephens College and did MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.

Rajan Anandan

Rajan Anandan is the Vice President and Managing Director of Google India, responsible for all Sales and Operations in India. He joined Google in February 2011. His career includes global leadership roles at Microsoft, Dell and McKinsey & Company.

Prior to Google, Rajan was Managing Director of Microsoft India, responsible for all aspects of Microsoft’s software, OEM and services business in India. Under his leadership, Microsoft India was recognized as the Number 1 subsidiary among the emerging markets worldwide (China, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, South Africa and India).

Before joining Microsoft, Rajan was the Vice President and Country General Manager of Dell in India where he grew the Dell business from $250 million to over $800 million and also held several leadership roles including being the Executive Assistant to Chairman Michael Dell. Before Dell, Rajan was a Partner with McKinsey & Company in Chicago. He holds an MSc from Stanford and a BSc from MIT. He lives in Delhi and is married to Radhika with a 6 year old daughter, Maya.

Saurabh Srivastava

Mr. Saurabh Srivastava is one of India’s leading IT entrepreneurs, angel investors and venture capitalists. He founded and chaired IIS Infotech which was ranked amongst the top 20 Indian software companies within 4 years of inception and was the first Indian company International Quality certified. He continued to chair the board in India and served on the Main Board of Xansa plc (post acquisition). He has since founded/invested in over 50 start up ventures. He is a cofounder and past Chairman of NASSCOM, the Indian Software Industry Association as also NASSCOM Foundation, the IT industry's community service arm. He is also on the National Executive Committees of the two apex industry chambers in India, CII (Confederation of Indian Industries) and FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry). He is also the member of National Innovation Council set up by the Government of India. He serves on the boards of some publicly listed companies in India and the UK, such as Naukri.com, India’s largest Consumer Internet company, Spice Digital in the Mobile space and Xchanging plc. He also chairs the Indian board of CA Technologies Inc, a $ 4.5 Bill US software MNC. He founded and chaired India's first and extremely successful early stage Venture Capital fund in the private sector, Infinity Ventures and also co founded the Indian Angel Network, India's first and largest business angel group with over 200 investor members comprising the who's who of successful Indian entrepreneurs and CEOs. He chaired the Indian Venture Capital Association for a decade and is Chairman Emeritus of TIE Delhi. TiE is the world's largest organisation devoted to entrepreneurship with 16,000 members in 54 chapters across 14 countries. He serves / has served on several government committees / task forces / boards such as the Indo EU Round Table, PM’s National Innovation Council, IT Ministry’s Committee on software exports, Planning Commission and SEBI Committees on Venture Capital, National and State VC Funds, Media Lab Asia, Railway Expert Committee, CSIR Tech Ltd(set up by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research to commercialise its technologies), Government’s Multimodal Transport Task Force and Task Forces for two of India's largest states, UP and Bihar.

He serves/has served on the Advisory Board of Imperial College Business School, London, on the Entrepreneurship / Incubation boards of IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur and on the Advisory boards of Uttarakhand and Himachal Universities. He has a Masters from Harvard University and a B Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. Awards include “Distinguished Alumnus” from IITK, Honorary Doctorate in Technology from the University of Wolverhampton, UK and Lifetime Achievement award from the IT Industry in India.

Rajiv Sodhi

As the VP & MD of Go Daddy India, Rajiv’s core responsibilities include overall India strategy business development, operations and customer care centre management. With over 15 years of experience in the IT industry, Rajiv specializes in technology evangelism, product marketing and business alliance management.

Prior to Joining Go Daddy India, Rajiv was the Director of SMB and Cloud business at Microsoft India where he led the launch and adoption of Office 365 and Windows Azure in India.

Rajiv has done his MBA from the Indian Institute of Planning and Management, Delhi and earned his Bachelor of Engineering from Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune University (India) specializing in Computer Science. He is based in Gurgaon, India.In his spare time Rajiv enjoys astronomy and travelling.

Vikram Upadhyay

Vikram is a technocrat turned serial entrepreneur. A University of Tokyo Graduate , majored in Real Time Operating Systems. He worked in NTTDATA R&D lab and spearheaded companies in Japan & India ,bootstrapping from 3 employees to 2000 plus. In 2011, he relocated back to India and now he spends his substantial time in mentoring and guiding Entrepreneurs . Druva, Stayzilla, Orangescape, Merinews, IndiaCollegeSearch, SchoolAdmissions, are some of his portfolio companies. He is Board Member of IAN Incubator and Active Angel Member since 2007.

Rajiv Makhni

Rajiv Makhni is known as India's Tech Guru. He is the Managing Editor, Technology, NDTV and also Head of Alternate Media for NDTV Ltd. He hosts multiple TV shows on Technology (Gadget Guru, Cellguru, Newsnet 3.0, Walk the Tech Talk), and Lifestyle (Men cant dance, The next Big thing), anchors India's only Daily show on the Net, hosts a talk show on Men, loves food so much that he ran a chain of restaurants (and sampled everything, everyday), was a successful model (and manages to look sufficiently embarrassed about it when asked) and is currently writing a book (not on technology).

He has an extensive following on Social Media and is also one of the most sought after speaker and moderator at Key Events in India and abroad. He is a multiple award-winning columnist and writes for major publications like Hindustan Times, GQ, Outlook, Cnet and many others in India and Abroad. He is married, lives in Delhi and has just discovered that Fatherhood may well be the best tech-education in life.

Mr. Dhruv Shringi

Dhruv Shringi is the Co-Founder & CEO Yatra Online Pvt. Ltd. Dhruv leads the company’s business initiatives across continents.

Dhruv in a very short span of time, by making innovations in the field of travel and tourism, has made his unique identity in the online travel industry. He has contributed actively in rejuvenating the methods of the industry. Since its successful launch in January 2006, Dhruv, has lead Yatra.com to grow from a 3 member organisation to a 1,400 people strong organisation - thus making Yatra.com the leading travel brand in the country. In 2011, Dhruv was listed by Fortune magazine amongst the top 40 CEO’s in India and he currently also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Internet and Mobile Association of India.

His most recent role prior to Yatra.com was as Director Group Operations and Technology of the Ebookers Group in London, where he led a team of over 600 people and was responsible for sales of $850 million achieved through across channels including online, call centers and retail shops.

Prior to his stint at Ebookers, he worked with Ford Motor Company in their Business Strategy team based in London, where he was part of the European Business Turnaround team. He also has significant work experience in India having spent over 6 years with Arthur Andersen based in their office in Delhi. Dhruv holds an MBA from INSEAD and is also a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Dhruv is an avid reader and enjoys playing golf in his leisure time.
