Meerut gangrape accused assaulted by lawyers in court premises
Meerut: Three men accused of dragging a 16-year-old girl into an SUV and raping her repeatedly in the moving car were allegedly thrashed by lawyers inside the premises of a court in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.

The accused, including Amit Bhadana, a contractor linked to the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), were being taken out of court after a hearing when they faced the fury of the lawyers and some other bystanders. Reports said the lawyers kept saying that the accused should hang.

It took several moments for the police to get their act together and rush the accused back to the jail. But the police say none of them were seriously injured.

Amit Bhadana, his driver Azad Singh Gurjar and Shobhit Gurjar - the girl's facebook friend - allegedly abducted the teenager in Meerut last Saturday when she was returning home from tuition at around 7 PM. The police said the girl had befriended Shobhit on Facebook and agreed to meet him for her birthday.

After raping the girl in the SUV, the men allegedly took her to Bhadana's house and gang-raped her for hours, before dumping her near a mall. The next day, in front of the girl's family, they allegedly threatened to kill her and her brother if she went to the police.

The three - all between 25 and 32 years - were arrested yesterday and sent to 14 days judicial custody today. A fourth man is still missing.
