Rain fury is unfolding in the northern states of India after hundreds were killed and lakhs were forced out of their homes in the southern and western parts of the country earlier this month.
In Himachal Pradesh, which received record rainfall on Sunday, at least 24 people have died so far. A flood alert was issued in parts of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh as the Yamuna and other rivers neared the danger mark. National Highway-3 between Manali and Kullu has been damaged due to heavy rainfall.
In Uttarakhand, three people were killed and 22 are reported missing following a cloudburst.
Heavy rain hit parts of Rajasthan over the weekend. The highest rainfall in Rajasthan - 14 and 8 inches - was recorded on Saturday in Nagaur and Parbatsar, respectively. Ajmer, Jodhpur and Bikaner also received heavy rain. Out of the 810 dams in the state, over 210 are overflowing due to heavy rain.

Air Force, Army carry out rescue operations in flood-hit parts of Punjab
The Army, IAF and NDRF carried out rescue operations on Monday as floods hit parts of Punjab and Haryana, putting lives at risk and damaging crops over hundreds of acres, reported news agency PTI.
The Punjab government declared the situation in affected areas a natural calamity after a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to review the situation.
Nearly 1,000 stranded people, including about 700 from Punjab''s Rupnagar district, were rescued in the two states, officials said.
Water level in Bhakra dam crosses permissible limit of 1,680 feet
The water level in the Bhakra dam crossed its permissible limit of 1,680 feet on Monday, prompting the authorities to increase the release of excess water through spillway gates to 41,000 cusecs, officials said.
"Water level in the Bhakra reservoir was 1,681 feet at 10 am on Monday against the permissible storage level of 1,680 feet," an official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
The decision to raise the release of water through spillways was taken in order to bring down the water level in the reservoir to 1,680 feet in the next three-four days, an official of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) said.
"There is still water inflow of more than 1 lakh cusecs in the reservoir. Considering the present level of 1,681 feet and heavy inflows coming into the reservoir, it has been decided to increase the release through spillway of the Bhakra dam from 19,000 cusecs to 41,000 cusecs," the official was quoted as saying by PTI.
"This release from spillway will be about 14 per cent of the total capacity of spillway."
Uttarakhand Flood: Ganga crosses danger mark in Haridwar
Heavy rain in Uttarakhand over the recent days have flooded rivers in the state with the Ganga crossing the danger mark in Haridwar and flowing close to it in Rishikesh, according to news agency PTI.
At least 12 people were killed in rail-related incidents in the state, most of them in the early hours of Sunday.
The Ganga is flowing above the danger mark at 294.450 metres in Haridwar, Vikrant Saini, sub-divisional Officer of the irrigation department in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh said on Monday.
Waters of the flooded river entered the fields in dozens of villages in the district, damaging crops of paddy and sugarcane over 30,000 bighas in Kalsiya, Sherpurbela, Dumanpuri, Himmatwala in Laksar area, he said.
Authorities have alerted people in 30 villages and patrolling in the flood-hit areas has been intensified.
Authorities have directed to shut down the iron bridge on Yamuna in Delhi as the water level is expected to rise in the evening.
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Monday announced Rs 100 crore for emergency relief and rehabilitation measures in flood-hit areas of the state. He also announced that as soon as the water level recedes, a special ''girdawari''(crop loss assessment) would be conducted to ensure adequate compensation for the affected farmers.
The Indian Air Force conducted a daring rescue operation today to save the lives of two men who were left stranded on a barrage wall by the rising floodwaters of the Tawi River in Jammu and Kashmir. In a dramatic video of the rescue effort, the men, believed to be fishermen, can be seen squatting on the wall while the muddy waters of the Tawi swirl dangerously all around. Swimming to safety was never an option because of the ferocious speed at which the river was flowing; all they could do was wait and hope to be rescued.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday took stock of the situation after a dozen villages in Yamunanagar district were flooded by the excess water released from the Hathnikund barrage. Authorities have started to evacuate people living in the Yamuna catchment area following a sharp rise in the river water level, the officials said. There were no reports of any loss of life in the state so far. The villagers have been camping on the rooftops of their houses. Locals have complained that there was no food for their families or fodder for the livestock. The government had sounded a high alert in Yamunanagar, Karnal, Panipat and Sonipat districts from where the Yamuna passes through before entering the national capital. The Met Department in Chandigarh said the monsoon in the hill state in Haryana's neighbourhood has largely become subdued with chances of only light to moderate rain now onwards.
The water supply has been adversely affected in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district due to heavy rainfall, an official said on Monday. The lift water supply scheme for 75 per cent area of the Jai Singhpur sub-division got damaged near Kangain bridge at Mand Khad. Welding of the damaged pipes was getting delayed due to incessant rains and it might take two-three days to restore the supply, the official said. Meanwhile, the Averi-Bajirbody road and the Bajaura-Kataula road near Ropa in Kullu district are blocked due to landslide, the officials said. Heavy rains have claimed at least 22 lives in the state over the past two days and the meteorological department has predicted that the downpour is likely to continue for another 24 hours.
