Parliament Budget Session: The CBI issue continues to rock the Houses as TMC members raise slogans.
The budget session of Parliament commenced today amid the ongoing standoff between West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Centre over alleged "misuse" of the CBI by the latter in Kolkata. The CBI has accused Rajeev Kumar of being a "potential accused" in the Saradha and Rose Valley Ponzi schemes -- cases he investigated -- and said it was possible that he might have tried to destroy evidence.
Lok Sabha proceedings were disrupted twice today as belligerent Trinamool Congress members engaged in sloganeering against the government over the standoff between the CBI and the Kolkata Police. The House was adjourned till 2 PM even as papers were laid and members raised various issues during the Zero Hour, which went on till around 12.30 PM. Earlier, the Question Hour was washed out and the proceedings were adjourned till noon.
