'Break Up With Hatred': Congress' Valentine's Day Message For PM Modi

This was the second message from the Congress aimed at the BJP, which the BJP has not reacted to yet

New Delhi:  On Valentine's Day, the Congress tweeted a heart-infused video to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with "love" and a little bite. "Spread love, not jumlas," said the message, with a popular Bollywood song as its theme.

"Dear Mr Modi, A happy Valentine's Day from us to you," says the minute-long video posted on the Congress's official Twitter handle. Among its many digs, the party urges: "Hug less, work more" and "Break up with hatred".

The tweet reinforces the party's offensive against the BJP-led government over plans to provide health insurance cover to the poor and hold simultaneous state and national elections, criticizing them as jumla, or gimmicks.

"Like every relationship, make promises that you can keep," it says, referring to PM Modi talking about the huge amount of black money stashed away abroad that could be enough to deposit Rs 15 lakh in each bank account.

This was the second message from the Congress aimed at the BJP. Earlier in the day, the Congress had posted on Valentine's Day a sketch - two red hearts, a white moustache and a saffron scarf - that sought to spread the message of love. "This day and every day, we hope that love continues to win over hate," the party tweeted, taking a cue from its chief Rahul Gandhi, who had said recently that the Congress would "respond with love to every attack".

The BJP has not reacted to the tweet yet.

Comments
Earlier this week, the Congress posted a video targeting the Prime Minister for his joke on party lawmaker Renuka Chowdhury's laughter in the Rajya Sabha.

In a stinging response, BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao said the Congress had given up on serious political commentary and was functioning as a "B-grade video production house" with a flippant message. "The party is now operating at the level of Rahul Gandhi's IQ," Mr Rao had said.
