Diplomacy is not a joke, says Congress
"PM has a habit of grabbing headlines. They think this will help him get the tag of a statesman. After visits to Russia and Kabul, he decided to go to Pakistan," Congress leader Anand Sharma said.

"Diplomacy should be serious and mature. It's not a joke. Not only for news. Nation's interest should be kept first," he said.

"PM has no vision. He gave conflicting views. His whole Lok Sabha campaign was to attack Pakistan. In 18-19 months, sometimes they talk, sometimes they don't," he said.

'Almost unheard of,' says Omar Abdullah on PM Modi's visit
"Any engagement of India and Pakistan is a welcome thing. Clearly a back-channel that has made this possible," Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah told NDTV.

"The Indo-Pak engagement have gone through a lot of roughs. Now a jaw dropping event done by the Prime Minister. But there is no consistency," he said.

"It's almost unheard of in Asian region. The onus now is on these two Prime Ministers. Let's see what happens," he said.

"Any chai pe charcha is good. Kashmiri kawa is sweeter. May be sweet start would be appropriate," Mr Abdullah said.
