Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a three-day visit to Gujarat during which he will inaugurate the ninth edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. The summit is being held in Gandhinagar from January 18 to 20. PM Modi will take part in other programmes during his January 17-19 visit which will also cover Silvassa, the capital of the neighbouring Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

Upon his arrival today, PM Modi inaugurated the 'Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show' in in Gandhinagar, an integral part of the biennial investor summit. Tomorrow morning, PM Modi will inaugurate the three-day summit. Heads of five countries and more than 30,000 national and international delegates, including CEOs of major companies from India and abroad, are expected to attend the 9th edition of the summit, according to organisers.

PM Modi in Ahmedabad:

The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Ahmedabad is dedicated to your service at a cost of Rs 750 crore, PM Modi tells a gathering after the inauguration.

This hospital will prove to be a model for other government hospitals in the country, says PM Modi.

Health facilities and medical education have been given a boost in the last four years, more than 18,000 MBBS seats and more than 13,000 post graduate seats have been increased during this period, he adds.

"I congratulate Gujarat govt to be the first one to have implemented the 10% quota for the economically weaker section," says PM Modi.

Culled from the decades-old Vadilal Sarabhai Hospital, the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Ahmedabad is a 78-metre-high state-of-the-art super-specialty public hospital built by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and is equipped with all modern amenities, including an air ambulance.

According to officials, this will be a completely paperless hospital and is a part of the Ayushman Bharat initiative. PM Modi inspected the facilities at the hospital today.
