Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Port Blair today to mark the 75th anniversary of freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose's declaration of the formation of the Azad Hind government in 1943. The prime minister is scheduled to release a commemorative postal stamp, coin and first day cover to mark the 75th year of 'Azad Hind'. The prime minister will inaugurate a 7 MW solar power plant, and solar village. He laid the foundation stone for a number of development projects and address a gathering.

PM Modi in Port Blair inaugurated the Industrial Training Institute at Arong and a Modern Sports Complex. The ITI would help empower the youth of the island, with skills, he said. He will also release the innovation and start-up policy for the islands. The prime minister laid wreath at the Martyrs Column at Port Blair and visited the Cellular Jail in the city. PM Modi also hoisted the high mast flag at South Point, Port Blair. He will pay floral tributes at statue of Subhash Chandra Bose at Marina Park in Port Blair.

3 Andaman And Nicobar Islands To Be Renamed During PM's Visit This Sunday
Three islands in Andaman and Nicobar will be given new names by the government this Sunday, the latest in the list of places being renamed across the country. Ross Island, Neil Island and Havelock Island will be renamed as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island, Shaheed Dweep and Swaraj Dweep respectively. The new names will be formally announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Port Blair on December 30
