PM Narendra Modi Gujarat visit: PM Modi launched the Ro-Ro ferry service in Ghogha today

Vadodara: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in poll-bound Gujarat today, a third time this month, where he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a number of projects in Bhavnagar and Vadodara. PM Modi inaugurated the first phase of a Rs 650 crore ferry service between Ghogha in Bhavnagar and Dahej in Bharuch in the Gulf of Cambay. He addressed a gathering in Dahej after taking the ferry from Ghogha. From Dahej, PM Modi arrived in Vadodara, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 1,140 crore. PM Modi is visiting Gujarat for the third time this month. The Election Commission has not yet announced the dates for the assembly elections in Gujarat. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been in power for the last two decades in Gujarat.

'Our Focus Is On The Blue Economy': PM Modi

"Without proper connectivity, the economic development of a nation slows down. Keeping this in mind we are focussing on ports infrastructure," PM Modi said in Dahej after taking a ride in the Ro-Ro ferry that he inaugurated in Ghogha in Gujarat. 'Will Link Other Places': PM Modi

"This ferry service will not be restricted to this one route. We are planning to link other places also through ferries," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said before inaugurating the Ghogha-Dahej Ro-Ro ferry service.

The Roll-On, Roll-Off Ferry Service

The roll-on, roll-off or Ro-Ro ferry service between Ghogha in Bhavnagar district and Dahej in Bharuch district of Gujarat will reduce travel time.



Officials have said the ferry can take up to 250 passengers. Ro-Ro vessels are usually meant to carry goods vehicles or other wheeled machines, hence the roll-on, roll-off moniker since vehicles will have to be driven onto the vessel.

'Will Launch Key Development Programmes': PM Modi

"Will be on a day long Gujarat visit where key development programmes would be launched," Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted. He said the Ghogha-Dahej ferry service will reduce travel time and also enable better movement of vehicles as road traffic will ease if more people move to the ferry service.
