Gujarat Election 2017: PM Narendra Modi said 106 water-ways have been planned in the country.
PM Modi began his travel in a seaplane from Sabarmati river in the city to Dharoi dam in Mehsana district, the first-ever flight by such a craft in the country. His return journey would also be by the same seaplane. The Congress "can't even imagine development work like this," said the Prime Minister, taking a dig at the opposition party which has recently pointed to the absence of any mention of "development" from the BJP in the political discourse in Gujarat. In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister added: "We won't be able to build airports everywhere so we will focus on waterways". He said as many as 106 such water-ways have been planned in the country. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said this is for the first time in the history of the country that a seaplane will land on a water body and that will be the Sabarmati river.

On Twitter, PM Modi urged his home state to vote in record numbers on Thursday, when polling for the second and last phase of elections will be held. "I call upon the people of Gujarat to not only give the BJP an overwhelming majority but also ensure that BJP wins in every polling booth across the state," the prime minister said.

After reaching Dharoi Dam, PM Modi travels from Dharoi Dam to Ambaji Temple by road. After visiting the temple, he would return to Ahmedabad by the sea-plane in the evening.

PM Modi begins his seaplane ride on Sabarmati on last day of Gujarat campaign. The plane took off from the Sardar Bridge-end amid chants of "Modi-Modi" from BJP workers and other city dwellers, who flocked the Sabarmati Riverfront to witness this one-of-a-kind event.
PM Modi boarded the single-engine sea-plane from near the Sardar Bridge connecting the old city with Ahmedabad West, the first-ever flight by such a craft in the country. A special jetty was constructed to facilitate the prime minister's boarding from the river.
