PM Modi Tweets Birthday Wishes to LK Advani, Calls Him 'Best Teacher'

PM Modi called on LK Advani on his 88th birthday

New Delhi: On the day of the highly-anticipated Bihar election result, Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his morning by tweeting birthday wishes to senior BJP leader LK Advani and later drove to his home.

"Personally, I have learnt so much from Advani ji. For Karyakartas like us, he is the best teacher & the epitome of selfless service," PM Modi tweeted on Sunday morning.Mr Advani turned 88 today and many commented on social media that the best birthday gift for him would be a BJP victory in Bihar.

For the BJP, the Bihar verdict is a crucial one though it denies that it will be a referendum on the Modi government.

Mr Advani, who was named among the top campaigners in Bihar, has kept a low profile ever since the BJP came to power at the Centre in May 2014. He was among the leaders who had been vocal about his reservations about the party's decision in 2013 to project Mr Modi.

Months after the BJP took charge after winning the national election, Mr Advani - deputy prime minister in the previous Atal Behari Vajpayee-led BJP regime - was kept out of key decision-making bodies of the party and given the role of a mentor.
