Parliament's Monsoon Session Day 7: Live Updates

Six Congress lawmakers were suspended by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Monday after they grabbed files from a table and tore and threw paper. The BJP also counter attacked the Opposition with party MPs Meenakashi Lekhi and Nishikant Dubey raising the Bofor scandal. The Monsoon Session has been witnessing heated debates on several issues including farmer suicides, atrocities on Dalits, cow vigilantism, and problems arising from the Goods and Services Tax or GST. The India-China standoff in Doklam was also discussed by the Parliamentarians, with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj assuring the House that "all countries are with India" on the issue.

Armed Forces Sufficiently Equipped With Ammunition: Arun Jaitley
Defence Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday assured the Rajya Sabha that the defence forces are "sufficiently equipped" with ammunition, after opposition members raised concerns over ammunition shortage quoting a recent report of the central auditor.

A report of the Comptroller and Auditor General last week pointed out that the Indian Army is battling critical shortage of ammunition, especially for its tanks and artillery, and 121 out of the total 152 types of munition do not meet the minimum levels needed to fight a full-scale war.

'Let Whole Country Watch This,' Says Speaker, Suspends 6 Congress MPs
"The entire country should watch this...Show it, let them watch," Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said angrily after the Congress lawmakers grabbed files from a table and tore and threw paper. "Those are official papers. Doing that is a crime," she said, adding, "Creating a ruckus at the Well is non-disciplinary in itself but tearing up paper and throwing it at the Speaker four times was worse."
